WHAT IS THE EQUILT

Before you start, you may want to know more about the quilt. You can learn more here and read our mission here.

GETTING STARTED

To get started, you first need to answer the question “What Is Your March?” Not sure what that means? See below.

Once you have the answer, you’ll submit a photo and text.

These will be used to create your quilt square. We can create this for you or you can create it yourself. To learn more, see below.

HOW TO ANSWER “WHAT IS YOUR MARCH?”

Before you submit to the quilt, you’ll want to answer the question “What Is Your March?”

Maybe it’s something you’ve taken to the streets to promote or protest. Maybe it’s something that drives you everyday.

“What Is Your March?” could mean:

  • What inspires you? As a designer, artist, musician or a person.

  • What’s important to you? Is it an issue? A person? A goal?

  • What connects instead of divides?

It could mean really anything that aligns with our mission.

Once you have the answer take a pic and think of some text to submit.

LET US CREATE YOUR SQUARE

1) Take a photo

Take a photo of you or something that reflects “What Is Your March?”

2) Write up the text

Write up your full answer to “What Is Your March?”.

3) Submit

CREATE YOUR OWN SQUARE

1) Take a photo

Take a photo of you or something that reflects “What Is Your March?”

2) Overlay text on your photo

Overlay text that sums up your answer.

Not sure how to do that? See the tip below.

3) Save the photo in the correct file format

Once you’ve added the text, save the file. Be sure to:

  • Make the final image a square.

  • Keep it 200 KB or less.

  • Save the image as: .jpg, .tiff, or .png.

4) Write up the text

Write up your full answer to “What Is Your March?”.

If you’d like, include any relevant hashtags or handles for Twitter and / or Instagram.

5) Submit your square

Tip: How to overlay text… and make it look cool

To achieve that artsy, magazine look in no time flat, here are some easy-to-use apps for overlaying text:

  • Word Swag

Keep your text simple and easy-to-read (hint: BIG!)

For the sophisticated users:

  • You know what to do.  Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. are great tools for the die-hards.
